Manual or motorised — pick this first

A manual cup is a textured sleeve inside a shell. You control the pressure and the pace, there is nothing to charge, and nothing can rattle or give out. It is also the cheapest way into the category and the easiest to clean, because the insert pulls out and rinses through.

An automatic stroker adds a motor, and that means two separate things: suction, where air is pulled out of the sleeve, and stroke, where the sleeve or the shaft moves. Cheaper units do suction only. The models further up the range do both, and the third-generation Jiehuo adds a warming sleeve.

The honest trade-off is noise. A motorised cup is not silent in a shared flat — the product pages say when something is loud rather than pretending otherwise.

Weight decides whether it stays put

This is the specification people ignore and then regret. A 555 g pocket stroker is something you hold. A 1.9 kg hip piece or a 5.85 kg half body is something that sits on the bed and stays there, which is the entire point of buying it.

As a rough guide: under 1 kg is handheld and drawer-sized; 1–2 kg sits still on a flat surface but is still easy to move; anything past 3 kg needs somewhere permanent to live, and past 5 kg you should think about where it will be stored before it arrives.

Cleaning a sleeve properly

Almost everything in this category is TPE or a TPE insert inside a harder shell. Soft TPE is porous, which is what makes it feel right and also what means it holds residue. Rinse it through with lukewarm water after every use, use a pH-neutral toy cleaner, then dry it completely before it goes back in the box.

A damp sleeve stored in a sealed bag will grow mould. If the surface starts to feel tacky even after washing, dust it with renewing powder — and when it stays tacky after that, it is time to replace it.
