Three types, and how to tell them apart

External vibrators buzz against the surface. That includes bullets, the makeup-brush style massager and suction heads, where a small chamber creates a pulsing sensation rather than a buzz. These are the easiest to start with and the quietest.

Dual-stimulation vibrators have a shaft and a second arm or head, so internal and external stimulation happen at the same time. The rabbit-style and the OG suction models are both in this group.

Telescopic and rotating devices have a motor that moves the shaft rather than only vibrating it. They are the loudest things in this category and the most expensive — the rotating model here is a genuinely loud device, not a bedside-drawer one.

What the price difference buys

The cheapest items here are the small external ones at AED 180–230. They are simple single-motor designs and they work — the money is not buying reliability, it is buying features.

AED 250–360 buys motors that move, warming functions, app control and dual stimulation. Above that you are into the heavy motorised devices, where the cost is in the motor and the battery rather than the shape.

Warming and app control

Warming matters more than it sounds. Anything that goes against the body feels different at room temperature in an air-conditioned flat, and a warming function closes most of that gap in a couple of minutes.

App control means the person adjusting the settings does not have to be the person holding it. It pairs over Bluetooth with a phone app; the pairing steps are in the box and take a minute the first time.

Cleaning, charging, storing

Wipe the body with a toy wipe or rinse it if it is water-resistant, but keep water away from charging ports — most have a rubber seal, and it should stay closed. Never submerge a device that is not described as waterproof.

Charge before storing if it will sit for months: a battery left completely flat loses capacity. Store away from direct sunlight, which degrades soft finishes fastest.
