How to clean and store your toy, step by step
A short, practical routine for cleaning and storing intimate products — what to use, what to avoid, how long to dry, and how to store soft TPE pieces so they last.
The routine
- Remove batteries or unplug before washing anything electrical.
- Rinse with lukewarm — not hot — water. Hot water damages TPE and can loosen glued seams.
- Use a pH-neutral toy cleaner, or mild unscented soap for silicone and metal.
- Rinse again, then dry with a lint-free towel and leave it out to air dry fully.
- Dust soft TPE with renewing powder before storing.
What not to do
- Do not use alcohol, bleach or household surface cleaners.
- Do not put TPE in a dishwasher, and do not boil anything that has a motor.
- Do not store a wet toy in a sealed bag — it will grow mould.
- Do not store silicone and soft TPE pressed against each other for long periods.
Storing it
A drawer away from direct sunlight is enough. Sunlight and heat are what degrade soft materials fastest, and that includes a bathroom windowsill.
If you need to be discreet about it, a plain cotton bag or a box inside a drawer is all you need. The original packaging works fine too.
Electrical items
Wipe the body with a damp cloth, but keep water away from charging ports and buttons. Most rechargeable devices have a rubber seal around the port — leave it closed when washing.
Charge it before storing if it is going to sit for a while. Leaving a battery completely flat for months shortens its life.
Questions
Can I just use soap and water? +
Mild unscented soap and lukewarm water is fine for silicone and metal. For soft TPE, a pH-neutral toy cleaner is gentler on the surface.
How long does a toy need to dry? +
Until it is completely dry to the touch — usually a few hours for a sleeve with internal channels. Do not put it away damp.
