You missed the courier — what actually happens next
What happens to a cash-on-delivery adult product order in the UAE when nobody is home: how long the courier holds it, whether you can redirect it, and how to avoid it happening again.
The courier calls first — that call matters
In the UAE, couriers call before arriving rather than leaving a card. That call is the moment the delivery is actually decided, and it is the reason a missed parcel is almost always avoidable.
If you cannot take the delivery at that moment, say so on the call. Rearranging on the phone is a thirty-second conversation; rearranging after a failed attempt is a new delivery cycle.
If you miss it anyway
A failed cash-on-delivery attempt usually goes back to the courier's local hub rather than all the way back to us. That matters, because it means a second attempt is normally possible without the order being cancelled.
- Message us the same day. Tell us the order reference and what happened — the sooner we know, the more options the courier still has.
- Give a window rather than a day. "After 8pm" is workable. "Sometime tomorrow" usually produces a second failed attempt.
- Offer an alternative handover point. A reception desk, a security cabin or a neighbour who knows what to expect. Nothing is written on the box, so a third party can receive it without knowing the contents.
- Do not re-order. A duplicate order costs you a second delivery and creates two parcels to sort out.
Why repeated failures end an order
Cash on delivery puts the cost of freight entirely on the seller until the parcel is paid for. Two or three failed attempts on the same parcel usually cost more than the margin on the order, which is why couriers eventually return it and why some sellers cancel after a second failure.
We do not cancel after one missed attempt. We will ask you to confirm a specific window before we send it out again — because a parcel going out a third time on the same address without a confirmed window is a waste of everyone's afternoon.
Making sure it does not happen again
- Put the reception or security desk in the checkout notes the first time, not the second.
- Give a number you actually answer. The whole process depends on that one call.
- If you travel for work, choose a delivery day you will be home and tell us on WhatsApp.
